Prickly Porcupine Fact Check
Many people believe that porcupines can throw their quills at you. This, however, is an urban legend. What happens when a porcupine feels threatened is that it tenses up and the quills will stand up. Eventually, it will strike its attacker by swatting quills into the aggressor's skin. Sometimes this movement causes loose quills to fall out, looking like they are being shot around.
